Email #3 - next two weeks, County, State
Parents,
This email is a look ahead for the next couple weeks. First, we've decided to end the dryland workouts at the beginning of practice. We are moving into the last few weeks so the strength training should be complete. Each night the swimmers should be at practice by 7:45 (or 6:15 on Wednesdays) to have enough time to get in the water by 8:00 (or 6:30 on Wednesdays).
After our meet on this Friday night, the following week will be very busy, as the the divers will participate in the County Meet on Thursday, January 20 at Cobb Central Aquatic. The rest of the swim team will swim at the County Meet on Friday night and/or Saturday. The County Meet is a Prelim/ Finals Meet and will take place at Mountain View Aquatic Center.
These are the times for each day, however with the new regulations put in this past Friday, everything could still change based on the size of the meet. Please be flexible and I will give everyone the updated information as soon as I have it.
Thursday, Jan 20: Diving Warm-up will be from 3:00pm to 4:00pm; Boys will warm-up at 3pm and compete first, the Girls will have an additional 30 minutes prior to the start of their competition. @ Cobb Aquatic Center
Friday, Jan. 21: 3pm warm-up and 5pm start for County Prelims Swim @ MVAC
Saturday, Jan 22: 10:00 warmup and 11:00 AM start for swimmers who did not qualify for the County Meet @ Cobb Aquatic Center
Saturday, Jan. 22: 4pm warm-up and 6pm start for County Finals @ MVAC
***All times subject to change***
Because warmups right now are scheduled for 3 PM, my plan is to have everyone who is diving on Thursday or swimming on Friday to be released from school at 12 noon on Thursday or Friday. This will give the athletes time to go home, eat, change and drive/ride to the pool by 2:30. Some athletes may need to carpool with other parents.
I will know the list of swimmers who will swim on Friday in the County Meet after this Friday's meet. Remember, you have to qualify as individual for the County Meet by hitting a time standard in each event, or swim in an A or B relay at the meet. There will be between 4 and 6 swimmers (boys and girls) who don't qualify, but will be selected to attend based on their relay ability.
The meet on Saturday morning will be for everyone who does not swim on Friday night. This should be a fun meet because it will be a level playing field so to speak.
Thursday, January 20 will be our last team practice of the regular season. After the County Meet, only those swimmers who are qualified for the State Meet will continue practicing. There will be a few alternates selected by me after the County Meet. These will be alternates for the relays at State. The alternates may or may not actually swim, but will be expected to still train every practice leading up to State.
Thursday, January 20 is also the night of our Senior Swim. This is in conjunction with our final regular season practice, and I'm asking that EVERY senior please attend that night. I also would like every underclassman to attend that practice as well. It would be great to have the entire team there at one time to send off the seniors.
As for State, it will take place from February 3 - 5. February 3 will be the diving competition, February 4 will be swimming prelims, and February 5 will be swimming Finals.

As I get new information about County, I will send it out. As always, if you have any questions, please ask me.
Thanks,
Coach Sansing
