Parents and Swimmers,

In the last 24 hours, we've received several updates from Cobb County but there was also some indecision and unknown as to what would happen.  We finally got some resolution today after 2 PM.  

Cobb County issued a mandate yesterday (going into effect immediately) that would reduce the total number of people allowed in a swim meet to 100 at Cobb Aquatic, and 125 at Mountain View.  This includes swimmers, coaches, timers, referees, lifeguards, spectators, etc.  Immediately there was an uproar, and there was communication between coaches, ADs, pool directors, etc the rest of the afternoon, night, and into the morning. 

Today, it was decided that we would have to return to the Covid Protocols used last year starting tomorrow.  This means no spectators (unfortunately), and the kids will have to "camp out" outside when not swimming.  The temperature tomorrow should be in the 50s, and all sunshine, but we know that will still be cool.  Please have your swimmer bring a winter cap, socks and shoes and warm clothes to wear when not inside. 

Coach Armstrong is bringing a large tent canopy thing to set up, but swimmers should bring either some towels, blankets or chairs to sit down on the ground.  Beth Riedemann is bringing an outdoor heater, so if anyone else has something like that you could bring (or send with your swimmer) that would be good. 

We also are allowed to have a parent go in the facility and monitor the events and heat numbers, so the swimmers outside can always know when to go in and warmup for their event.  That parent will be allowed to go in and out, so if you are interested in that job, please let Beth or me know. This will be a very active job, constantly going back and forth (but you'll be able to watch them swim). 

Campbell and Marietta (the hosts) said they would handle all the timing volunteers tomorrow.  

As many of you know, next Friday night's meet is also Senior Night.  We are planning to recognize the seniors and their parents before the meet starts (approximately 6:45 - 7:00).  I'm still hoping we can do this with the parents present, as its before the meet starts.  If nothing else, hopefully we can do the recognitions, and they'll let the parents come in for that, and if they make the parents leave after, at least they got to be there for that.  None of this ideal, and I hate its happening this way.

As for tomorrow's meet, the time of the meet hasn't changed.  The swimmers should still be at Central Aquatic Center at 2 PM, and we will warmup at 2:30.  The meet starts at 3:15.  Here is the Heat Sheet .
